There are usually some goodbyes and best wishes to be given to staff at the end of the school year. This year we have given our best wishes to Miss Collis, who is getting married, and we are saying goodbye to Miss Pascoe, who is off to Grimsby. Our caretaker from BAM is being moved to another site and we are sure that he will continue to be appreciated. We wish them all the very best of luck.
There were many awards to be given at our final assembly of the year. The half termly Headteacher Awards were given to children in each class and we were very pleased by the number of children who achieved a certificate for excellent attendance this year. The children who have used our "Walking Bus" through the year received certificates and medals. Yellow and Red teams won the trophies for Team Points and Sports Champions respectively and individual awards for Sportsmanship and Citizenship were given. Congratulations to all.
Our Year 4 children gave us a review of the year and shared some of their memories of Sidemoor in their final assembly. Everyone was impressed by their confidence and maturity. We are sure that they will go on to achieve great things at Middle School and beyond. Staff and parents are very proud of them all.
Chris Platt, Chair of Governors, presented each child with a book from the Friends Association.
The final term of the government funded "Wider Opportunities" music project gave our Year 4 children the opportunity to try the violin or cello. Parents and children enjoyed their end of term concert. We are very impressed with the progress made in such a short time and hope that many children will go on to learn an instrument at Middle School. Perhaps we will see some of them playing with the North Bromsgrove High School band or orchestra in years to come.
Students from North Bromsgrove High School came to play and sing to us in their end of term "Roadshow".
An afternoon of music, dance and drama was enjoyed by all the children in KS1 and 2 who came together in mixed groups to sample a variety of activities. The workshops included maypole dancing with Mrs C Smith, "Thriller" with Miss Pacoe and Mrs Ashton, singing with Miss Collis and Mr Cains (on guitar), composition with Mrs Complin and Mrs A Smith, chair drumming with Mr Logan, cheerleading with Miss Joynson and drama with Miss Bowyer. A very creative afternoon!
This summer we held our first Sports Days at our new site. The children did their very best and were cheered on by their team mates and parents.
After adding up all the points for Key Stage 1 and 2, the Red Team were the Sports Champions.

Our Summer Fete was a huge success. Everyone had a great time, the Friends Group organised a wonderful range of games and stalls, BAM FM looked after the BBQ, the High School Musical club entertained us, along with our new music maker and some very talented acts, and the rain stayed away!
Thank you to all who supported this event.
Year 4 children had the opportunity to spend the day at Upton Warren. Parents took part as well. Bellboating was great fun (although we were not the fastest team!). There were other outdoor activities to try during the day and everyone had a great time.
Our singing at the Bandstand in Sanders Park entertained parents, friends and passers by.
The sun shone and Mrs Complin was pleased with the performance of all the children.
Everyone enjoys learning in our school grounds. Key Stage 2 children are using their map reading skills in orienteering.
A group of children had the opportunity to try golf in an after school club organised in partnership with Bromsgrove Golf Centre.
The "Sight Loss Bus" came to Sidemoor. The children in Years 3 and 4 learned about visual impairment and tried out some equipment.
